0 Replies and 3105 Views Database changes for v12 - UTC date conversion - VERY IMPORTANT!    3105  0 Started by  Rod Weir Background HelpMaster v12 and above supports multiple timezones when entering, updating or viewing any date/time data.  This is very useful if you use HelpMaster across different timezones. In order to support this functionality, HelpMaster needs to store all date data in the database as UTC (Universal coordinated time).  When the date data is displayed to the end user, it is converted and displayed in local time.  If the timezone for the date is different to the local time, Hel...

3 Replies and 6596 Views How to improve SQL Server performance and thus HelpMaster's too.  6596  3 Started by  Dennis Odri I recently helped one of our many valued clients with an issue where his HelpMaster services were just stopping periodically due to SQL Server timeouts and Exchange mailbox access timeouts. I discovered that they had only allocated 2GB RAM and a single CPU to their HelpMaster server which is a Virtual Machine which also hosts their HelpMaster database under SQL Server 2012 Express. It seems that SQL Server 2012 requires a minimum of 4GB of RAM on the host. I also recommended that he enables a...

0 Replies and 3465 Views SQL script to capitalize the First and Last name of each client  3465  0 Started by  Rod Weir We recently had a request to ensure that the frist letter of a client&39;s First name and Last name was always captalized.  HelpMaster currently does not have this functionality built-in, but running the following SQL script will update your database to make the first letter of each name a capital letter. This script can be run at any time - even scheduled to run at regular intervals if required. Update tblPerson Set Firstname = Upper(Left(FirstName,1)) Substring(FirstName,2,254),...

0 Replies and 10847 Views Manually re-indexing and updating stats on SQL Express.  10847  0 Started by  Dennis Odri The SQL Server 2008 R2 Express edition that comes with HelpMaster doesn't have the capabitilty to perform maintenance tasks such as automated Database backups, re-indexing, and updating statistics to keep your database lean and performing well. There are however built-in Stored Procedures and functions that can be run manually on a regular basis to perform these tasks. Run each of the following SQL sections in order from SQL&160;Server Management Studio Express, if installed. Alternately you ca...
