Depending on your solution, developing reports will vary. With on-premise helpdesk software, reporting will usually be easier and more approachable - having easy access to data and query design. If using cloud-based software, depending on the vendor and suppported features and access, you may need to work with a reporting API, or be able to access the database/data in some way. Sometimes this will come at an additional cost. Many cloud-based products will feature a report-building component that will allow a certain level of report generation and customization.
